Maine

The easternmost state in the United States, Maine is a playground for outdoor enthusiasts, offering forests, beaches, and countless lakes and rivers. Visit one of the oldest national parks in the country, Acadia National Park to see the tallest peak in the eastern United States, Cadillac Mountain. The Maine Highlands offers the state’s best whitewater rafting on the Kennebec and Penobscot Rivers. Western Maine is an excellent region to view fall foliage. Casco Bay, outside of Portland, offers an array of historical forts, access to marinas and fishing cruises, and farther south, the beautiful Maine beaches. And don’t forget about the lobster—these crustaceans highlight the endless seafood restaurants scattered along the Maine coast.
